The Friendship He Left Behind

I thought I knew you better than that

I thought you knew me better

But apparently we were both wrong

Here's to the dreary weather

Of friends that drifted away

Over a silly trifle thing

A thing that made absolutely no sense

And it's been so long since

I sat beside you

Held your hand

Oh I though you were my friend

But I guess that mattered more

I understand, but still my heart is sore

I'll miss your smile

And maybe this pain will pass

Maybe someday I'll  look back on this and smile

But not today

You know what they say , that friendship never really dies

But I think that's a lie made up by silly dreamers

Because you were more than a friend

My stronghold
